Two more die of Covid, 72 infected in BD

Two people died from Covid-19 while 72 new cases were reported in Bangladesh on Wednesday.

The figures were one and 67 respectively on Tuesday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 29,122 in the country since the virus was detected in the country in March 2020,

Some 8,073 samples were tested during the last 24 hours until 8:0am on Wednesday while 8,050 samples were collected during the period.

The Covid-19 test positivity rate was reported at 0.89 per cent on the day, slightly up from the previous day's 75 per cent.

According to the DGHS, a total of 876 people recovered from the coronavirus disease in the country during the last 24-hour reporting time.

The rate of recovery was 96.36 per cent on the day, the DGHS figure revealed.

However, the rate of fatalities from coronavirus disease remained static at1.49 per cent on the day.

According to official data, the total Covid-19 cases have exceeded 1.95 million in Bangladesh and over 1.88 million of them recovered from the deadly disease.

Meanwhile, nearly 13.81 million samples were tested since March last year.
