Health Secretary M Neazuddin Miah and Public Service Commission Secretary AKM Amir Hossain, who had got their jobs extended with fake freedom fighter certificates, went on voluntary retirement Thursday, reports UNB.
They submitted the resignation letters to the Public Administration Ministry on health and personal grounds, Joint Secretary of the ministry Mohibul Haque said.
Neazuddin and Amir Hossain are two of the four senior bureaucrats who were stripped of their freedom fighter certificates on September 22.
The two other government officials who lost their freedom fighter certificates are former secretary of
Liberation War Affairs Ministry KH Masud Siddiqui, now an OSD, and joint secretary of the ministry Abul Kashem Talukdar, also an OSD.
The health secretary, who was to be in service till December 31 next told UNB that he sent a resignation letter to the Public Administration secretary earlier in the day for personal reasons.
The government had served show-cause notices upon the four on October 28 asking them to explain why departmental actions would not be taken against them for using fake freedom fighter certificates.
