Universal Medical College honours FE journalist, 11 other women

The winners of laurels from the Universal Medical College and Hospital (UMCH) pose at the awards ceremony held in the Banquet Hall of Channel 24 in Dhaka city on Saturday.

Doulat Akter Mala, a special correspondent of The Financial Express, has been honoured by Universal Medical College and Hospital (UMCH) for her contribution to mass media.

She is among 12 women UMCH recognised on Saturday for their contribution to various fields of the society.

The awards were presented during a ceremony held in the Banquet Hall of Channel 24 in Dhaka city on Saturday.

The other honourees are Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Miti Sanjana for her legal services, Associate Professor Anima Roy of Jagannath University for Rabindra Sangeet, Jannate Romman Tithi for Nazrul Sangeet, Professor Sabita Rezwana Rahman of Dhaka University for education, Vice Chancellor Professor Eaysmin Ara Lekha of Uttara University for expanding education, Brigadier General Professor Dr Anjuman Ara Begum for medical services, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sonali Sen of Khulna Metropolitan Police for law enforcement, Additional Secretary Shaheena Khatun of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources for administration, actress Sabila Noor for acting, Rebeka Sharmin of Nestle Bangladesh for the corporate sector, and Chairperson Farhana Sharmin Emu of the ARCASIA Committee on Social Responsibility for architecture.

Additionally, four Ha-Meem Group employees were also honoured.

Zakia Sultana, senior secretary, Ministry of Industries, was present in the ceremony, while Dr Ashis Kumar Chakraborty, managing director of Universal Medical College and Hospital (UMCH), delivered the welcome speech.

Managing Director of the Ha-Meem Group A K Azad, MP, and Chairman of Universal Medical College and Hospital Priti Chakraborty were also present as guests.
