NEW YORK, Nov 09: Membership Committee of the UN Security Council was unable to arrive at consensus on Palestinian bid for full UN membership. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had submitted the application in September last. Nine out of 15 Security Council members must vote in favour for acceptance of Palestinian move. Eight states have agreed to support the membership bid. Russia, China, India, Lebanon, Brazil and South Africa have supported the move.
The United States will apply the veto. Britain, France and Columbia will abstain. France is pressing Palestinian to move the UN General Assembly to upgrade their status which will be endorsed overwhelming. Nicolas Sarkozy President of France during the recent G20 summit told Barack Obama that he could no longer bear with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Natanyahu and called him a liar in private conversation overheard by several French journalists, the New York Times reported today. "You are fed up with him but I have to deal with him more than you", the US president replied. Netanyahua's office refused to be drawn into the issue.
In another stunning report a New York tabloid paper said that hatred for Israel among both non-immigrant black and white Americans is more deeper than the Muslims. The Americans think that the Jews are dominating the government, the congress, business, banks and the media.
The United Nations yesterday said more than 3500 pro-democracy activists have been done to death by the brutal regime of Bashar al-Asad in Syria. The government regularly dismisses the news of man slaughter. The pro-democracy group in Syria has urged the Arab League to take tough stand against Bashar al-Asad and to suspend Syria's membership of the Arab League and impose economic sanctions.
