UP member shot dead in Pabna

A union parishad member was shot dead by some miscreants at Negri village under Chatmohor Upazila of the district Thursday, report agencies.

The deceased was identified as Faruk Hossain (35), member of Foiljana Union Parishad (UP) and secretary general of Ward No 2 unit BNP, son of Khalil Master of the same area.

Police said a group of miscreants opened fire on Faruk after calling him from his house at about 1:00 am, leaving him critically injured.

Faruk was taken to Pabna Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He died on  way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

The body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Mahbub Hossain, victim's brother, filed a case accusing Shahjahan Ali, president of Foiljana union unit BNP and also chairman of the same union parishad and Amirul Islam, of killing his brother.

Meanwhile, police arrested them for their suspected involvement in the killing as there had been a longstanding dispute between Faruk and Shahjahan.
