US businesses urged to invest in EPZs

Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) Abdullah Yusuf urged the US entrepreneurs to invest in the Export Processing Zones (EPZ) of Bangladesh, reports UNB.
The BEPZA chairman made the call while addressing a seminar at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington Thursday, said a PID handout Saturday.
Abdullah Yusuf presented a list of products of prominent companies in the EPZs and described the facilities and incentives on offer for investment in the country's EPZs.
He informed the seminar about favourable conditions in Bangladesh's EPZs and government-sponsored various programmes to attract foreign investments.
A video film on Bangladesh's EPZ activities and facilities were projected at the seminar.
The BEPZA boss also replied to a volley of questions from the participants as they showed keen interest to invest in Bangladesh.
Presided over by charge d' affaires of the Embassy Sheikh Mohammad Belal, the seminar was participated, among others, by BEPZA member (Investment Promotion) Proshanta Kumar Barua and General Manager
(Investment Promotion) AZM Azizur Rahman.
Representatives of different investment banks, mortgage and insurance companies, industry-quality supervising agencies from greater Washington, Bangladeshi expatriates willing to invest in Bangladesh, attended the seminar.
