US entrepreneurs keen to invest in Internet sector

US entrepreneurs have shown their keen interest to invest in Bangladesh's Internet sector, including VoIP, as they found it very potential in rural development, reports UNB.
US Charge d' Affaires Geeta Pasi said this during a meeting with CA's Special Assistant for Social Welfare and Post and Telecommunications Ministries Brig Gen (retd) MA Malek at the secretariat Thursday.
Brid Malek said the government is pondering to bring all upazilas and educational institutions of the country under the Internet coverage.
He said the government is also considering setting up an alternative cable line through Bangladesh Power Grid Company (BPGC) and Myanmar along with raising the use of the present submarine cable to ensure uninterrupted Internet facility for people.
Malek thanked the US businesspeople for showing interest in expanding the Internet and VoIP facilities in Bangladesh and assured of necessary cooperation of the government in this regard.
