United States Under-Secretary of State Judith A McHale is to arrive in the city today (Saturday) on a three-day visit for talks with government officials, academics, and business and civil society leaders, a US embassy statement said Friday, reports BSS.
McHalem, the top official of the US Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, is the highest ranking Obama Administration official to visit Bangladesh after the 2008 US elections.
The statement said McHale is entrusted with the task of running all State Department-funded educational and cultural exchanges programmes, including the Fulbright programme. Prior to joining the State Department, she was the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Discovery Communications, where she launched innovative education and development initiatives like the Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership.
