US Ambassador James F Moriarty said he wanted to see 20,000 students from Bangladesh in his country each year over the next one decade, reports UNB.
The US diplomat disclosed some new initiatives for bolstering cooperation while addressing as the guest of honour the monthly luncheon meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Bangladesh at a city hotel.
The envoy said that currently 2,000 students were going from here to the USA each year while 14,000 students were going from Nepal and 40,000 from India.
AmCham president Aftab-ul Islam moderated the meeting. The theme of this month's business meet was 'Small Entrepreneurship'.
Moriarty in his written speech said that US President Barack Obama had announced to host a Summit on Entrepreneurship in the coming months.
"The Summit will involve innovators from around the globe, including Bangladesh. Through this Summit, the United States will seek both to join existing efforts and inspire new efforts to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Muslim-majority countries and Muslim communities across the world."
