Verdict in Khaleda’s Zia Charitable Trust graft case on Oct 29

A Dhaka court will announce its verdict on former prime minister Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case on October 29, reports bdnews24.com.

Special Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman set the verdict date on Tuesday. The case was filed against the BNP chief by the Anti-Corruption Commission eight years ago.

The ACC had filed the corruption case with Tejgaon Police Station in 2010, accusing Khaleda and three others of embezzling Tk 31.54 million from the Zia Charitable Trust. The trial began at a makeshift court inside the Old Dhaka jailhouse.

The BNP chief was sent to jail on February 08 when the judge sentenced her to five years in prison in a separate graft case involving the Zia Orphanage Trust.
