The communications minister has urged 'the people to wait' until the end of the present government's tenure to see developments in railway sector, reports bdnews24.com. "Something will happen that had never happened before," Syed Abul Hossain told reporters while visiting Kamalapur Railway Station and seeing newly launched special Eid services Friday. Asked why Bangladesh Railway (BR) is not turning into a profitable organisation, Abul replied: "Please wait. By the end of this government's tenure, the people of Bangladesh will see that had never been seen before." "Setting fire on Egaroshindur Express in Narsigndhi will have a negative impact on passengers' Eid journey," Abul said expressing his concerns over the Wednesday incident. The supporters of slain Narsinghdi mayor Lokman Hossain set fire to the Dhaka-Kishoreganj passenger train during a general strike called in protest against the murder. The minister said the Narsigndhi incident was an unexpected one." It will certainly compound problems of the home-bound people," he added. However, earlier Thursday, the minister told journalists, after a similar visit to Kamlapur Railway Station that "trains will run as per their schedule within a day or two." Abul blamed the last BNP-led government for the poor condition of railway.
