The city dwellers experienced acute shortage of water supply following the massive power outages Saturday. They could not operate their water pumps for lifting water due to lack of electricity supply.
Many city dwellers were trying to meet their emergency need of water through lifting water from reservoirs in their respective buildings.
It created big demand for bottled and jar water to meet the emergency need for household purposes among the people.
Talking to The Financial Express, Dhaka WASA Managing Director Taqsem A Khan said: "We have taken steps to tackle the water supply crisis."
He said: "It will not create any problem until 12 midnight today (Sunday) as we have the backup capacity for 12 hours. If the electricity supply is not restored we will adopt crisis management steps to tackle the situation."
