FE REPORT

Police recovered a woman's body from a deep freezer in the capital's Kalabagan area on Monday night.

The victim, identified as Taslima, was allegedly killed by her husband, Nazrul Islam, who has been on the run since the incident. Her family lodged the case with Kalabagan Police Station on Tuesday.

Police recovered Taslima's body at her home around 11:30pm on Monday.

A Kalabagan Police Station official said the victim had sharp weapon injuries in her head, eyes, and several other parts of her body.

"Preliminary evidence suggests that she was killed by her husband following a marital conflict," the official said, adding that police are now trying to arrest Nazrul Islam.

However, the victim's family alleged that Nazrul killed his wife after failing to obtain 10 kathas of land from his father-in-law. Taslima's elder brother, Nazmul Hossain, told media that Nazrul had previously abused his sister over the same issue.

According to police, the couple had two daughters aged 17 and 14. On Sunday night, the girls slept in a separate room. The next morning, Nazrul reportedly woke them up and told them that their mother had left home with another man. He then took the daughters to his sister's house and left them there.

When the daughters later failed to reach their parents over the phone, they informed their maternal uncles. Taslima's brothers then contacted the police, who discovered her body inside a deep freezer at her home.
