Worker killed in CEPZ bus mishap

CHITTAGONG, Apr 5: A bus killed a garment worker and seriously wounded another in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) today.

The bus of route no 10, while carrying garment workers, lost control over the gear and the vehicle fell in the drain killing the female worker who was walking past Road No 03 in Sector-1 in the CEPZ at around 8:30 in the morning.

Rani Akhtar (28), who worked in the quality control section of the Siams Superior Apparel Industry, received severe injuries and was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared her dead.

The bus was carrying three workers of the BMS Garments in the CEPZ. One of them, Sajeda Akhtar (23), also received severe injuries and was undergoing treatment in hospital.
