Yaba queen Nikita sent to jail, Joynal, Jewel taken on 3-day police remand

Yaba queen Jannatul Ferdous alias Nikita, her brother and parents were sent to Dhaka Central Jail while her friend Mahbubur Rahman Joynal ((55) and his associate Shafiqul Islam Jewel placed under three-day police remand in two separate cases, report agencies.
They were produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Shawkat Ali who rejected their bail petitions. The magistrate sent Nikita, her brother Moinuddin, father Abdun Noor and mother Saleha Begum to Dhaka Central Jail.
Joynal, managing director of Hotel Purbani, and his associate Jewel were placed under police remand.
RAB had arrested them while a substantial quantity of Yaba, a love drug, were seized from the Shantinagar house of the 26-year-old Nikita.
Police suspected that Jewel had first brought the sex stimulating Yaba tablets to the country from Thailand.
Joynal's lawyer Abdullah Al Mamun said at the hearing, "The defendant is sick and there is no possibility of his going into hiding. The allega tions brought against him are false. He was arrested Sunday while he was about to turn himself in to the court of law."
On October 29, the RAB, in an effort to arrest the two people, raided Joynal's Dhanmondi home and confiscated Tk 285.0 million worth of foreign currencies, a huge quantity of gold and diamond ornaments, liquor, firearms and Viagra drug from the place.
According to RAB, Nikita had been living in the house with Joynal for the last couple of years as his friend.
