The BNP-led coalition in movement gave a daylong break Tuesday in its latest spell of hartal as people celebrated the country's cricket triumph.
However, available reports said, the 20-party alliance's unbroken countrywide blockade passed its 64th consecutive day amid stray incidents of arson, blasts and arrests.
On the day, a vehicle was torched allegedly by pro-blockade activists in front of city's Notre Dame College in the afternoon.
"A group of young men suddenly launched the attack by blasting cocktails and set fire to the vehicle," says a spot account of the incidents-seen as a reminder for resumption of the shutdown from the evening after the respite.
However, no one was reported hurt.
The alliance relaxed its hartal for 12 hours from 6:00am Tuesday for the celebration of Bangladesh Cricket Team's victory over their mighty English rivals in the ICC Cricket World Cup and urged the citizens to join victory processions across the country.
It looked like a momentary solidarity of the nation on a single point of pride as the announcement of rejoicing came from the battling opposition shortly after the Tigers romped into the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in their cricketing history.
