1 held with 28 gold bars at Ctg airport

CHITTAGONG, July 3 (UNB): One day after seizure of 76 gold bars from two vacuum cleaners of two passengers, customs officials arrested a man with 28 gold bars weighing 3.265 kg at Shah Amanat International Airport Thursday.

The arrested is M Nizam Uddin (30), a resident of Raojan upazila of the district.

Mashiur Rahman Mandal, assistant commissioner of Chittagong Airport Customs authority, said Nizam, who had returned from Dubai by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on June 30, went to the airport Thursday morning to receive his luggage, which reached the airport later.

Customs officials searched the luggage while scanning it and recovered the gold bars worth Tk 14 million inside an IPS (Instant power supply) contained in the luggage.

Later, they detained him along with the gold.
