1 held with 6.64 kg gold at Ctg airport

Customs officials seized 6.64 kg gold worth Tk 30 million at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong and detained a man in this connection on Thursday, report agencies.

The arrestee was identified as Shaha Hossain, 30, a resident of Rauzan upazila of Chittagong.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate director general Mainul Haque said a flight of flydubai from Dubai landed at the airport around 3:40pm.

Customs officials challenged Shaha, a passenger of the flight, when he was crossing the green channel and recovered one gold bar searching his body.

Later, the customs officials along with Shaha launched a drive in the flight and recovered more 56 gold bars kept hidden under the seat.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Chittagong Airport Customs Tapan Kumar Chakrabarty said 56 gold bars weighing around seven kilograms were seized from Hossain.
