At least 100 physicians have so far died in the country from the novel coronavirus, and the total number of infections among the health workers has increased to 8,084, according to reports of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).
Among the deceased, two were dental surgeons, said the apex body of doctors.
BMA expressed deep condolence to the victims' families, saying that the contribution of the physicians in such a condition must not be forgotten.
Of the total, some 2,852 doctors, 1,966 nurses and 3,266 other health staffers got infected since the first virus case was reported in the country on March 8.
Meanwhile, at least 23 journalists died from Covid-19 infection, while 11 more died with coronavirus-like symptoms across the country so far.
Newsmen are facing the brunt of the virus infection due to their role in covering events from the frontline during the pandemic.
Besides, a total of 956 newsmen of national and regional newspapers, TV, online media and other platforms got infected with the virus until Sunday, said a local journalists' platform - 'Our Media, Our Rights'.
Of the total infected, some 935 newsmen recovered and joined their services so far, it added.
