1,000 acres khas land reclaimed in Jessore

JESSORE, Aug 21 (UNB): Around 1,000 acres of khas land worth about Tk 300 million were reclaimed from the illegal occupants in the district in last seven months till July 31.
This was disclosed at an annual revenue meeting of the district administration on Thursday at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room.
The reclaimed lands belong to Zila Parishad, pourashava and Roads & Highways department and also include government water-bodies.
The district administration also demolished unauthorised structures built on those government land with the help of joint forces.
The present interim government soon after assuming power in January decided to reclaim the khas land across the country occupied by land grabbers since long.
At the meeting the district administration also gave certificates to different land officials of eight upazilas of the district for playing an effective role in the eviction drive.
Deputy Commissioner Abul Hossain also called upon the land officials to perform their duties with honesty and sincerity.
