109 students of Dhaka div receive Sher-e-Bangla Memorial Stipend

Some 109 students of Dhaka Division have received Sher-e-Bangla Memorial Stipend this year.

Barisal Division Welfare Organisation (BDWO) distributed the stipend and certificates among the students at a ceremony at RAJUK auditorium in the city on Saturday.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir attended it as the chief guest while former senior secretary of the Finance Ministry Mohammad Yunusur Rahman was present as the special guest.

President of BDWO Mohammad Ismail presided over the ceremony. It was also addressed by BDWO Advisers AKM Shamsuddin, AS Mahmud, General Secretary Mohammad Shah Alam and Convenor of stipend committee M Kalamuddin Jasim.

Some 300 students have received the Sher- e- Bangla Memorial Award this year. Of the total, 34 students received it in a combined merit , 64 students of Dhaka and Barisal divisions under talent pool and 201 students in general category.

The stipend programme of BDWO in honour of Sher-e Bangla Fazlul Huq has been continuing over the last two decades, according to a press release.
