11 public universities get new VCs

The government has appointed new vice-chancellors (VCs) to 11 public universities as part of an ongoing reshuffle in university leadership. The Ministry of Education issued separate gazette notifications to this end on Thursday, reports UNB.
The universities which get new VCs are: BUET; Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) Gazipur; Islamic University; University of Barishal; Noakhali Science and Technology University; Comilla University; Rangamati Science and Technology University; Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University; Jamalpur Science and Technology University; Pabna University of Science and Technology; and Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University.
Professor Ekramul Haque of Civil Engineering Department at BUET has been appointed as its 16th VC, replacing Professor Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman.
At Islamic University, Professor A K M Motinur Rahman of Public Administration Department has been appointed VC. Professor M M Shariful Karim of English Department at Comilla University has been appointed as its new VC.
Professor Zainul Abedin Siddique of Chemistry Department at University of Chittagong has been appointed VC of Rangamati Science and Technology University.
Professor Mohammad Iqbal of Industrial and Production Engineering Department at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology has been appointed VC of DUET. He is currently serving as the VC of North East University Bangladesh.
Professor Md Mamun Or Rashid, dean of Faculty of Oceanography at Patuakhali Science and Technology University, has been appointed VC of University of Barishal.
Professor Golam Rabbani of Institute of Social Welfare and Research at University of Dhaka has been appointed VC of Noakhali Science and Technology University.
Professor Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, pro-vice-chancellor of Jamalpur Science and Technology University, has been appointed VC of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University.
Professor A B M Shahidul Islam of Marketing Department at University of Dhaka has been appointed VC of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University.
Professor Abul Hasnat Md Shamim of School of Agricultural and Rural Development at Bangladesh Open University has been appointed VC of Pabna University of Science and Technology.
Professor Mohammad Amir Hossain Bhuiyan of Environmental Science Department at Jahangirnagar University has been appointed VC of Jamalpur Science and Technology University.
