12 get 15 days’ jail for cheating in DU admission test

A mobile court sentenced 12 admission seekers, including two girls, to 15 days' jail each on charge of fraudulence in the admission test of 'Ka' unit of Dhaka University (DU) on Friday, reports UNB.
Those awarded jail term are Nahid Hasan Kawsar, Tanvir Hossain, Rafiqul Islam, Khandaker Mirajul Islam, SM Zakir Hossain, Abu Hanif Noman, Al Imran, Noor Alam Arif, Soumika Pratyi Sattar, Arifa Billah Tamanna, Shah Pannan and Abul Bashar.
The university authorities caught them red handed from different exam halls during the test held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at 87 centres, said DU acting proctor Prof M Amzad Ali.
Later, they were produced before a mobile court led by executive magistrate Towhid Elahi which awarded the jail term. The 'Ka' unit test for admission into 1st year honours courses under science faculty of DU for academic session of 2017-2018 was held on Friday.
A total of 89,506 candidates appeared at the admission test under the unit of the university this year against 1,765 seats.
