12,000 students with no college seats yet can apply again online

More than 12,000 students, 750 of whom received a GPA-5, were not admitted to colleges in the results of the last stage of admissions for Class XI, reports bdnews24.com.
The results of this third phase were released on the government website on Friday night.
This year, nearly 1.68 million students passed their Secondary School Certificate exams and 182,129 achieved the highest result of GPA-5. There are 2.5 million seats available in colleges for Class XI students.
However, Tapan Kumar Sarkar, president of the Inter-Board Education Coordination Committee, says students do not secure seats because they only apply to the most reputable colleges. He told bdnews24.com: "All the students have chosen good colleges. This would not have happened if they had chosen their colleges while keeping their marks in mind. We don't have a shortage of seats."
Sarkar, chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, says that every year there is a problem with the students who do not get admitted to colleges.
Previously, these students were asked to apply directly to colleges, but this year they will be allowed to apply again online, he said.
