136 more BD nationals return home today

Another batch of 136 Ban-gladeshi nationals, including five women and five children evacuated from Yemen, will return home today (Tuesday) night, reports UNB.

A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will go to Djibouti and is expected to return to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8:00 pm, State Minister for M Shahriar Alam told journalists on Monday.

They were evacuated from Hodeida, Yemen on April 15 by Indian Naval Ship (INS)-Sumitra and reached Djibouti on April 16.

Bangladesh Foreign Mi-nistry arranged their accommodation, food and other logistics during their stay in Djibouti.

He said the total number of returnees under Foreign Ministry's shelter is 508.

Responding to a question, the State Minister said the total number of Bangladesh nationals would not exceed 700-800. "It's our best possible estimate [that stands] after talking to all relevant sources."

Earlier, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque said the number could be 1500-3000.
