14 CU students sued for attacking cops

CHITTAGONG, Aug 22: Police filed a case against 14 students of Chittagong University (CU) Thursday night for attacking the policemen on the campus.
Manjur Ahmed, sub-inspector (SI) of Hathazari thana filed the case accusing seven students and seven unidentified.
Those who were named in the case are Ahsan Habib, Sultan and Masum, 2nd year students of History Department, Nasir Uddin and Niaz of the Institute of Education Research and Training (IERT) and Rashed and Anis, 2nd year students of Management Department.
Confirming the matter, SI Nazmul of Hathazari thana said those who were named in the case were the members of Varsity Xpress (VX), a university shuttle train compartment based student group. The VX members allegedly attacked the policemen and injured constables Forkan Ahmed, Mohammad Rubel, Mohammad Sohag and Nur-e-Alam in front of CU central library on August 20.
The injured constables were first admitted to CU Medical Centre and later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
