157 stranded BD workers back from Libya

A total of 157 Bangladeshi migrant workers who remained stranded in Libya have been brought back home at the initiative of the foreign ministry, said a press release.
The Bangladesh government in cooperation with the International Organisation for Migration made the arrangement of bringing back a total of 234 stranded Bangladeshis workers, of whom 157 arrived in the country on Wednesday.
Rest of the workers will be brought back soon as all the necessary arrangements have been completed, the release added.
Currently, different militia groups are in conflict in different parts of Libya prompting the Libyan government to declare a state of emergency in the country.
Under the circumstances, Bangladesh embassy in Libya has put the Bangladeshi workers there on alert.
It has also opened a control room to give emergency support.
