2 die after inhaling toxic gas in Narayanganj

NARAYANGANJ, Sept 29 (agencies): Two persons died and two others fell sick after inhaling poisonous gas while they were cleaning a septic tank in the Alinagar area under Bandar Upazila of the district this morning.

The dead were identified as Shahadat Hossain, 28, son of Abdul Hai of Alinagar and Farhad, 29, son of Badal Miah of Madanganj of the Upazila.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station M Nazrul Islam said four workers - Farhad, Sumon, Nazir and Shahadat fell sick inhaling the toxic gas emitting from the septic tank while they were cleaning the tank at the house of Abdul Malek at around 9 am.

They were rushed to Narayanganj General Hospital in critical condition where the doctors pronounced Farhad and Shahadat dead.

Later, Sumon and Nazir were shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition.
