2 held with 1.3kg gold at Dhaka airport

Customs Intelligence officials arrested two people, including a Saudi Airlines employee, along with 1.3 kg of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday evening, reports UNB.

The arrested were identified as Nazir Ahmed, a Saudi Airlines employee, and Aslam Khan.

Airport sources said Aslam came to the airport from Singapore by a Tigerair flight that landed at the airport at 7:30pm.

He handed over 7 gold bars and several gold chains to Nazir at the Boarding Bridge of the airport.

When Nazir was coming out through the Immigration counter, the Customs Intelligence officials challenged him. The gold worth Tk 6.5 million was recovered after searching his body.

Questioned, he disclosed that Aslam handed the gold consignment over to him. Later, the customs officials also arrested Aslam.
