2 housewives murdered in Jhenidah, Joypurhat

In separate incidents, two housewives have been murdered allegedly by their husbands in Jhenidah and Joypurhat districts, reports UNB.

In Jhenidah, a man allegedly chopped his wife to death over a family feud at Lalpur village of Maheshpur upazila on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Goleha Begum, 38, wife of farmer Ruhul Amin of the village.

Quoting locals, police said Ruhul picked a quarrel with Goleha over family matters on Thursday night. At stage, he hacked her indiscriminately, leaving her dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body around 9am on Friday. Liakat Ali, officer-in-charge of Maheshpur Police Station, confirmed the incident, saying Ruhul went into hiding after the murder.

In Joypurhat, a housewife was found dead at Surjoban village in Khetlal upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Beauty, 24, wife of Abdus Salam of the village. Family sources said Beauty went to sleep along with her husband after taking medicine on Thursday night.

However, she was found dead while Salam absconding on Friday morning.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Joypurhat Modern Hospital for autopsy.

Victim's uncle Zahurul Haque alleged that Salam killed Beauty and went into hiding.
