2,018 online newspapers seek registration

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu told Parliament that 2,018 online newspapers from across the country have so far applied seeking registration with the Press Information Department, reports UNB.

The minister came up with the statistics while replying to an unstarred question from ruling party MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury (Bhola-3).

Noting that the government has no list of the country's online newspapers, Inu said the registration process of online newspaper is underway.

He said the number of the country's registered newspaper is 3025, while that of government-approved private television channels is 45.
