22 maunds of jatka seized

Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 22 maunds of jatka (hilsa fry less than ten inches in length) raiding two launches on the Dhaleshwari River under Sadar Upazila of Munshiganj district Tuesday, reports UNB.
Sources at Coast Guard headquarters said, a team from Coast Guard Station in Narayanganj conducted separate drives at 'MV Prince Russell' and 'MV Swarnadip Plus' on the Dhaleshari under Munshiganj district at about 4:00 am.
The law enforces recovered 22 maunds of jatka from the two launches in an abandoned condition as the traders fled away from the scene after sensing the presence of the coast guard team.
The market value of the seized fish would be Tk 0.26 million.
The seized jataka was handed over to Munshiganj district fisheries officer and later those were distributed among poor people and different madrasas and orphanages in the district.
