JESSORE, July 9: Bangladesh Woman Lawyers' Association (BWLA) brought back home Wednesday a total of 25 Bangladeshi teenagers who were trafficked to India. The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over the adolescents to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel Tuesday evening.
Nayek Subedar Hafizur Rahman, in-charge, Benapole check post of BGB said that human traffickers smuggled out the under-privileged adolescents on the promise of providing them good jobs in India. They assured the teenagers of education there, too.
They were later arrested by the Indian police and had to suffer in jails. Then they were sent to different shelter homes with the help of a human rights organisation. The human rights organisation also informed the BWLA of the matter. The BWLA then took an initiative to bring back the children to Bangladesh with the help of the government, the BGB subedar added.
BWLA took initiatives to reach the boys to their residences on Wednesday after they were handed over to Benapole port police.
