2nd round of BIAC inter-varsity arbitration contest held

The second round of BIAC Inter-University Arbitration Contest- 2020 was held online in the city on Saturday, says a statement.

Barrister Muhammad Forrukh Rahman attended the second round as the tribunal chairman while Barrister Md Imam Hossain Tareq and Barrister Ahmad Naquib Karim were present as tribunal members.

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) played the role of the Claimant team while Bhuiyan Academy acted as the Respondent team competing against each other.

Bhuiyan Academy won the second round and will contest the final round against the University of Dhaka that won the first round held on September 12.

Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) is hosting this arbitration contest to provide students with a practical knowledge of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and to give them the opportunity to arbitrate a real case acting as claimant and respondent in a real-life scenario.

Mahbuba Rahman Runa, general manager of BIAC, was the coordinator and hosted the second round of the contest.

Bonik Barta was the media partner of the event which was telecasted live in BIAC's Facebook page and Bonik Barta's online page.

The final round of the contest will be held next Saturday (September 26).

This year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) held the contest via zoom virtual platform.
