300 poor patients undergo free eye cataract surgery

More than 300 poor patients from Tangail district have had eye cataract surgery at Bangladesh Eye Trust Hospital at Rayerbazar in Dhaka.
Kidney Awareness Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS), a non-profit voluntary healthcare organisation, has conducted the operation free of cost, says a press release.
The operation that began on May 28 will continue until June 03. The patients are being brought to Dhaka from Tangail at KAMPS' expense.
On the occasion, KAMPS organised a discussion styled 'Andho Jone Deho Alo' (give light to blind people) on the premises of Bangladesh Eye Trust Hospital at Sultanganj in Rayerbazar.
The patients were earlier registered for eye cataract operation during 'Free Medical Camp-2015' organised in Tangail on February 21 in honour of the language martyrs. At that time, KAMPS also provided treatment to nearly 3,000 patients.
Member of the Planning Commission Md Humayun Khalid attended the discussion meeting as the chief guest while Prof MA Samad, Chairman of KAMPS and Chief Consultant, Department of Kidney, LabAid Specialised Hospital, Dhaka presented a keynote paper on the occasion.
