Center for Zakat Management (CZM) under its Genius Scholarship Project has provided scholarships to 3,549 meritorious but underprivileged students of public universities and medical colleges.
The scholarships were given to the first year graduation-level students of Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Jagannath University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agriculture University, Dhaka Engineering and Technology University, Sher-E-Bangla Agriculture University, Dhaka Medical College, Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital at a ceremony in the capital on Saturday.
Chairman of CZM and renowned businessman Niaz Rahim chaired the event where former adviser to a caretaker government Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman was present as the chief guest.
Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman called upon the students to achieve excellence in moral education side by side acquiring respective academic knowledge.
Niaz Rahim called upon the scholarship receiving students to carry out their studies attentively and painstakingly.
Former secretary MM Nasir Uddin, former secretary Arastoo Khan, secretary general of Exim Bank Foundation AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul, Prof of Dhaka University Dr Zubair Ehsanul Haque and chief executive officer (CEO) of CZM Dr Mohammad Ayub Miah were present, among others.
