39 rivers register rise, 40 fall

Water levels in 39 river stations monitored by the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rises and 40 stations recorded falls, reports BSS.
Among the 84 monitored water level stations, two river stations have been registered steady, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said in Dhaka Friday.
The Brahmaputra-Jumuna, Surma-Kushiyara and Ganges rivers are in falling trend while the Padma and rivers around the Dhaka city are in rising trend.
Significant rainfall was recorded in some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am Friday.
A total of 250 mm rainfall was recorded at Tangail, 223.8 mm in Jessore, 162 mm in Kushtia, 151 mm in Satkhira, 141 mm in Lama, 115 mm in Chandpur, 112.9 mm in Pabna, 97 mm in Barisal, 93 mm in Chittagong, 70 mm in Cox's Bazar, 65.4 mm in Bhaghyakul, 64 mm in Rajshahi, 55mm in Rangamati and 51.2mm in Madaripur.
