FE Report
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four suspects from Savar in the city Thursday night in connection with the gun attack at Swadhin Bangla Super Market that left one person dead and eight others injured on July 13.
Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team intercepted a Satkhira-bound passenger bus of Hanif Paribahan at Savar bus stand and arrested Rafiqul Islam Rony (25), Monir Hossain Mollah (27), Shahin Khan (25), and Nazmul Islam (30) for their involvement in the gun-attack, a RAB officer told the FE.
He said the four along with two others had hired the gunmen who later killed Abdur Rahim alias Mithu, bodyguard of the market's general secretary Anwar Hossain Litu, and injured eight others on July 13.
"Their main target was Litu but they failed to kill him. A feud over establishing supremacy led to the shooting at the market at Mirpur-1," he added. Litu survived but was injured in the shooting.
The other injured were identified as sand trader Mohammad Khokan, tea vendor Bishu, Mehedi Hasan, Solaiman Haji, fish trader Kamal, Sekandar, and Yunus.
