4 cops among 7 sued for murder in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR, June 15 (UNB): A case has been filed with a local court against seven people, including four policemen, on charge of 'killing' a man in Sadar upazila.
Nahida Akhter, wife of victim Ismail Hossain Khokan of Titarkandi in the upazila, filed the case with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Sunday.
Judge Afsana Abedin took cognizance of the charge and ordered judicial investigation into it. The court also asked police to submit the probe report before it by July 24.
The accused are Detective Branch (DB) of police sub-inspector Bashar, SI Mohammad Kamal Hossain and assistant sub-inspector Mohammad Sarwar Hossain of Dasherhat police camp, SI Mohammad Zillur Rahim of Sadar thana and three brothers of the deceased.
According to the case statement, the accused riding on two motorbikes and a white microbus picked up Islamil Hossain Khokan and Sabuj alias Nawab from Titarkandi area on June 2 and took them to local DB police.
Later, they took Khokan to Kathali area around 12:30 am the following day and shot him in his both legs. He was rushed to Sadar Hospital where he died after some time.
