40 plus RMG factories halt production

FE Report
More than 40 readymade garment factories, mostly located in the Ashulia industrial zone, were forced to shut down their production on Sunday following workers' protest.
According to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), at least five factories continued their suspension of operations until Sunday.
Around 40 more factories were unable to operate on that day as workers left the units after arriving at their respective workplaces with various demands, said BGMEA director Mohiuddin Rubel.
Talking to the FE, he mentioned that there were no major incidents outside the factories, but workers inside the units observed work abstention despite increased security outside the premises.
"There was no vandalism because the workers stayed inside the premises. Although 40 factories in Savar, Ashulia, and Dhamrai were opened on the same day, they could not operate for the full day as workers left at different times after arriving," he added.
