472 road crashes kill 438 in June: RSF

A total of 472 road accidents were reported nationwide in June, leaving 438 people dead and 561 others injured.
The findings were published in the Road Safety Foundation's (RSF) road accident monitoring report, released on Sunday.
The report was compiled using data gathered from nine national daily newspapers, 17 national and regional online news portals, various electronic media outlets, and the organisation's own sources.
According to the RSF report, motorcyclists accounted for 134 deaths in 145 motorcycle accidents, representing 30.59 per cent of the overall road death toll. During the same period, nine waterway accidents claimed seven lives, while 21 railway accidents left 18 people dead.
A total of 145 motorcycle accidents were recorded, accounting for 30.72 per cent of all road accidents and resulting in 134 deaths.
In addition, 91 pedestrians, accounting for 20.77 per cent of the fatalities, and 57 drivers and their assistants, representing 13 per cent, lost their lives in road accidents.
The victims represented a wide range of transport users, including 134 motorcyclists, 27 bus passengers, 37 occupants of trucks, covered vans, pickup trucks, and tractors, 14 occupants of private cars, microbuses, and ambulances,and eight rickshaw and bicycle riders.
