48 DU students get Dean's Award

A total of 48 students of various departments of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) have received 'Dean's Award'.

Besides, six teachers of the faculty were also awarded for their outstanding research activities at a programme at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhavan of the university on Sunday.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal was present as the chief guest.

Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Prof Dr. Zillur Rahman presided over the event.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr Sitesh Chandra Bachar and Treasurer Professor Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed were also present.

VC Dr ASM Maksud Kamal called upon the students of the faculty to play an effective role in the extraction and sustainable management of natural resources.

"With the aim of exploring natural resources, students should conduct contemporary research on environment, climate, geological resources and marine resources", he added.

The VC also urged the meritorious students to work for the welfare of the country and nation.
