48 gold bars seized at Shahjalal Airport

Customs officials seized 48 gold bars weighing about 5.6kgs from an aircraft at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city early Thursday, reports UNB.

Assistant Commissioner (Customs) Ruhul Amin told that a Dhaka-bound 'BG 046 flight' of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Dubai landed at the airport around 2:45 am.

Tipped off, the customs officials along with other intelligence members conducted a search in the aircraft around 3:15 am and recovered the gold wrapped in a black cloth at its cargo hall, said Ruhul Amin.

However, no arrest was reported.

The market value of the seized gold is Tk 25 million.
