4D ultrasound machine launched in country

Bangladesh Institute of Thyroid Medicine and Imaging Research (BITMIR) has introduced a new 4D ultrasound machine Saturday in a bid to proper detection of cancer.
Speciality of the machine, first of its kind in the country, is to diagnose cancer and other critical diseases through ultrasound.
The BITMIR organised a launching ceremony on its premises in the city.
Prof Dr Iqbal Hassan Mahmud launched the machine at the programme on 'Ultrasonogram to detect cancer'.
Mr Kartik, 4D and Doppler specialist of India, and assistant general manager of Toshiba Md Abdul Awal spoke on the occasion.
Dr Iqbal said when one falls sick, he/she can realise the necessity of correct diagnosing of disease.
Physicians sometimes face problems relating to proper detection of diseases, he added.
Proper utilisation of 4D ultrasound can play an effective role in correct disease detection, he added.
BITMIR chairman and associate professor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr AKM Fazlul Bari said slogan of  BITMIR is "4D ultrasound for all".
The institute is imparting training for only MBBS doctors to develop expertise in the field of ultrasound.
He said some 5,000 doctors passed from the institute who are providing health service at home and abroad.
The institute launched an intensive course of 4D ultrasound and elastoscan for doctors.
BITMIR has been working in the country since 2005 to make ultrasound available for all. Its slogan is "ultrasound, next to stethoscope' which is gaining popularity day by day.
