Five alleged members of a carjacking gang were arrested along with two stolen private cars and fake documents from different areas of the city over the last three days until Wednesday midnight, reports UNB.
The arrestees include alleged gang leader Iqbal Hossain alias Kamal Hossain alias Rana alias Tamim, and members Md Javed, Moshreqin alias Ahmed Rabbi alias Jubaraj, Ali Hossain and Md Mohsin.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team of Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), led by its assistant commissioner Mohidur Rahman, conducted simultaneous drives in the city's Bashundhara residential area, Eastern Plaza and Azimpur areas and arrested the five.
