5 cops closed on extortion charge in Khulna

KHULNA, July 18 (UNB): Five policemen, including a sub-inspector of Highway Police, were closed to the Faridpur Highway Police Super's Office on Thursday on charge of extorting money from vehicles on the Chuknagar-Satkhira Road.
The policemen were sub-inspector Deen Mohamamd, assistant sub-inspector Abbas Uddin, three constables-Monjel, Habibur Rahman and Sirajuddin-of Chuknagar Highway Police camp.
Locals said the five policemen, including Deen Mohammad, a sub-inspector of Chuknagar Highway police camp, had been involved in taking tolls from vehicles on the Chuknagar-Satkhira road in the name of security check for long.
On July 14, the accused were taking toll from some vehicles passing through Chara Batala area on the Chuknagar-Satkhira Road.
