5 policemen, 2 terrorists injured in gunfight

NARSINGDI, July 20 (UNB) : Two alleged terrorists and five policemen were injured in a gunfight at Champaknagar village in Sadar Upazila Monday afternoon.
Police arrested two members of the terrorist gang, including its chief.
The injured policemen were identified as ASP (Sadar Circle) Bijoy Bashak, Officer-in-charge of Sadar Thana Shamim Hossain, SI Ali Nur of DB, and constables Abul Hossain and Ramjan.
The arrested were identified as Mobarak Hossain alias Moba, 'top terror' of the town and leader of 'Moba Bahini', and his accomplice Kuddus.
Being tipped off that Moba took shelter in the house of Kuddus, a joint team of Sadar Thana police and Detective Branch police raided the house at about 1pm.
Sensing the presence of the law-enforcers, the 'terrorists', numbering 10-12, opened fire on them, prompting them to retaliate.
Several rounds of gunshots were exchanged between the two sides that left the five policemen and the two 'criminals' injured. Later, police arrested the 'criminals'.
The injured were rushed to the Sadar Hospital.
A foreign pistol, five bullets and four other sharp weapons were recovered from the possession of Moba.
However, the other members of the gang managed to flee.
