50 more arrested in Chattogram
Curfew relaxed for 15 hours

CHATTOGRAM, July 28: Police have arrested 50 more people in Chattogram over the past 24 hours - from Saturday evening to Sunday evening - on charges related to clashes and arson attacks during the recent quota reform movement.
Among the latest detainees, 40 were taken into custody from various locations in the city, while the remaining 10 were arrested from different areas across the district.
This brings the total number of arrestees in Chattogram over the past 12 days to 897, in 31 cases.
According to Kazi Md Tarek Aziz, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), a total of 40 people were arrested from different parts of the port-city in the last 24 hours.
"Overall, 516 individuals have been arrested in connection with 20 cases in Chattogram city. A new case has recently been filed at the Panchlaish police station, implicating 30-35 unidentified people," he added.
Abu Tayub Md. Arif Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of the Chattogram District Police, said 10 people were arrested from different areas of the district in the last 24 hours. In total, 381 individuals have been arrested in connection with 11 cases.
Meanwhile, the district administration has relaxed the curfew for 15 hours from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sunday.
