50 years of petroleum engineers' society celebrated in country

SPE Bangladesh, the Bangladesh chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), organised a programme Sunday to celebrate 50 years of the SPE.
AMM Nasir Uddin, secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, was the chief guest of the programme while Petrobangla chairman Sk. Abdur Rashid and Chevron Bangladesh president Steve Wilson were the special guests.
The programme was also attended by a large number of professionals from various national and international oil and gas companies, SPE members, university teachers, students and representatives from the press.
SPE began in 1922 as a branch of the American Institute of Mining Engineers (AIME). It became a full-fledged professional society on October 06 in 1957.
The Bangladesh chapter of the SPE was officially recognised as the 149th SPE section in 2000. Dr Tamim was the founding chairperson.
SPE Bangladesh provides a platform for oil and gas professionals - both national and international--to exchange ideas, promote commercial industrial products etc.
