51 of 84 flats for war-maimed FFs under illegal occupation

Unauthorised people have occupied 51 of 84 flats for war-wounded freedom fighters at Muktijoddha Tower-1 in the capital's Mohammapdpur area, report bdnews24.com.
Thirty-three of these occupants have grabbed one flat each and shared 12 others, according to a report by Bangladesh Freedom Fighter Welfare Trust (BFFWT).
The Trust submitted the report at a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the Liberation War affairs ministry on Thursday.
According to the report, 72 people are staying in the 84 flats now.
Out of them, 39 moved in without allotment and 33 of the 39 have also grabbed 12 other flats.
Eight of these flat occupants have failed to prove that they are members of any freedom fighter's family during investigations by the Trust.
The Trust said further investigations were required to determine whether 11 of the occupants were eligible to get the flats.
"The Welfare Trust managing director told the committee that 33 people had been allotted flats on the tower while the others occupied the flats forcibly," committee chairman AB Tajul Islam told reporters after the meeting.
According to the minutes of the meeting, the parliamentary committee recommended 'dignified' eviction of the illegal flat grabbers.
